East End Preparatory School to open in August 2011
The MNPS Board of Education unanimously approved Martha O'Bryan's application for a K-5 charter school, making East End Preparatory School an official charter school. The search for a school leader begins immediately and classes start August 2011 with kindergarten.
The vote came May 25, and about two dozen supporters applauded. The vote came after a recommendation from the district's Charter School Application Review Committee, which scored East End Prep's application as "excellent" in the categories of Mission, Education Plan, Governance and Operations.
"The application, the interview and the track record of the Center convinced the committee that the people involved in the school really understand the complexities as well as the opportunities for the community and the people they will serve," according to the recommendation.

The faculty studies student achievement data from the Learning Lab to further drive effective instruction in the classroom. Technology gives our students the computer literacy skills necessary to succeed in today’s global marketplace. With this business model, EEP will be able to operate on the state educational funds.
