Chapter 2

Getting Set for Life

Chapter 2 is more that a mere job training program; it is a complete work readiness and college-to-career support strategy designed to engage in- and out -of-school youth from the Cayce Place and Napier Place/Sudekum Apartments communities, ages 16-24, through career guidance and opportunities to build leadership skills by participating in real world experiences required for success in post-secondary education and career.

Chapter 2 provides year-round services consisting of workshops, job shadowing opportunities and summer employment.  

Employment Specialists and Success Coaches provide the following services:

  • Guidance in building a career pathway in fields of interest
  • Career education opportunities through paid and unpaid internships, including job shadowing
  • Occupational skills training
  • Summer employment
  • Tools for expanding employment support networks and other resources
  • Follow-up and post-employment services for 12 months
